SVHS Transportation Policy for Athletic Events

The school provides transportation to and from games via bus, van with the coach, or parent drivers. SVHS policy requires student-athletes to return home the same way they arrived at the game (bus, parent driver, or van with coach) unless they go home with their parents.

• All trips start and end at the high school. Students must return to the school unless their legal guardian is transporting them home.
• All parent drivers must have a current Sonoma Valley Unified School District Volunteer Driver form correctly completed and on file with the Student Activities Office, Johanna Fichtenberg.
• No student-athlete can leave an away game with anyone other than their legal guardian. This can only happen after the legal guardian has spoken directly to the coach.
• If someone other than the legal guardian has temporary custody (e.g., a student staying with another family while the guardians are out of town), a message from the legal guardian must be submitted and kept on file.
• Parent drivers with an approved Sonoma Valley Unified School District Volunteer Driver form on file may transport students who are not their children after speaking directly to the coach.
• Student-athletes are not allowed to drive themselves to and from games.

Thank you for adhering to SVHS policy regarding transportation and parent drivers. Coaches are ultimately responsible for ensuring travel safety for all student-athletes. Parents, please speak directly with coaches to ensure safe travel arrangements.
