Medical Excuses

A doctor’s note can release the student from all participation in class. You may want to have the doctor modify the exercise for the student.  If students are unable to do the physical class work for an extended period of time they will be dropped from the class.

Modified Excuses

If a student is well enough to be in school, he/she is well enough to dress for class and participate to the best of his/her ability.

A medical excuse will be given to a student who brings a written request from his/her parent or guardian.  Please include a contact phone number on the note.  The note will be turned in to the teacher at roll call.  This request will be honored for 1 day only.  If an excuse is needed for more than 2 days, a note from a doctor is required.

The 2 types of modified excuses are:

  1. contact the doctor about the student's ability to do alternative activities. The instructor will suggest some alternatives.
  2. When the doctor confirms the student's ability to do alternative activities, the student shall then be expected to "dress" and participate.
  3. Student dresses for class and does NOT participate in any activities, but makes up class at another time.
  4. Student dress for class and participate to the best of their ability
